Catalyst is an interactive museum exploring science, maths, engineering and technology through hands-on exhibits and workshops. The Interactive Gallery lets you film in a TV studio, test the scarf shooter, make animations or create ball runs. The Birth of an Industry gallery uses historical objects, reconstructions and archive films to trace the chemical industry from ancient times to the 1940s. The Theatre and Catalyst Laboratory host workshops for ages 8 and upwards, plus science talks and shows. The Observatory Gallery is a glass-walled rooftop space with panoramic views, accessible by external glass lift, with hands-on exhibits and heritage information cards. The museum holds an archive of over 100,000 historical artefacts and records from the British chemical industry. The café serves snacks and drinks with riverside views.
School Holidays (from 20th July 2026): Open every day 10:00-16:00 including Mondays.
