The All Saints Lewis Carroll Centre sits in Daresbury village, where the author of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland spent his early childhood. The newer building holds displays on his colourful life and the interests that shaped him, from puzzles and photography to his work as a writer and mathematician. Local children and adults present parts of the story, which suits families with older children who enjoy books and history. The centre has a free kids' area with activities to try on screen or print off at home. Visitors can also join a volunteer guide for a tour of All Saints church, where Carroll's father was vicar, and wander the old village cottages nearby. The centre is a good stop for a family reading the books together, and it welcomes school groups with themed visits arranged in advance.
