A family museum in Llanthony Warehouse, a Grade II listed grain store restored at the historic Gloucester Docks. The galleries follow the story of the docks and the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal across roughly two hundred years, using fun, interactive exhibits that suit young children as well as older ones. Historic boats are displayed on two quaysides outside the building, so a visit mixes indoor galleries with time by the water. There is a café and a museum shop on site, and the operator runs school visits and group visits as well as events and holiday activities throughout the year. Well-behaved dogs are welcome. The docks around the museum also have a wildlife trail and plenty of birdlife to spot, which gives a lively half-day out whatever the weather.
