A small railway museum in the Forest of Dean, housed in one of the last permanent railway buildings in the area, an 1883 goods shed on the site of Coleford's old railway yard. Younger visitors can look over full-size locomotives, a restored signal box, a replica Victorian carriage and a brake van, and see large-scale model steam locomotives and railway photographs from the local lines. A miniature passenger railway runs in the car park on some days, which tends to be the highlight for small children. The museum is run by volunteers, who are happy to explain the engines and the signal box. It suits families with primary-age children and railway enthusiasts alike, and it makes a short, easy visit that pairs well with the nearby Dean Forest Railway. Coach parties and groups can arrange visits outside the regular opening days.
