Facilities

The John Moore Museum sits in a row of timber-framed buildings close to Tewkesbury Abbey and was set up in memory of the writer and naturalist John Moore. Its countryside collection includes a large natural history display of mammals and birds from local woodlands, wetlands, gardens and farmland, with the famous flooding meadows of the Severn Ham a particular focus. Families can also visit The Merchant's House next door, a restored 16th-century shop and home, and the Old Baptist Chapel opposite. The museum runs holiday activities for children, live animal shows and talks, and has a cottage garden linking its buildings. The main buildings are not suited to wheelchair users, so visitors with mobility needs should check the access information before travelling. It suits families who enjoy local history and wildlife on a compact, sheltered visit.
