The Polish Institute and Sikorski Museum is a London museum and archive focused on Poland during the Second World War and the wider Polish community abroad. Its museum rooms hold a large display of uniforms, medals, badges, flags, regimental colours, maps, posters and paintings, with much of the material from the 1939 to 1945 period. Visitors are allocated a guide with knowledge of the collections, who explains the objects and tries to tailor the tour to what each person is curious about. The museum's own visit guidance says it is a singular experience for children and adults, and no appointment is needed for individual or family visits. Larger groups, such as school parties, are asked to phone ahead. The museum sits in a Grade II listed terrace facing Hyde Park, so it suits older children and families with an interest in history rather than a play-based outing.
