The Ragged School Museum tells the story of a large Victorian free school for poor children, opened by Dr Barnardo in the East End and later reshaped into a museum of the area's history. Its centrepiece is a unique classroom where visiting children take part in a lesson run the way it would have been in Victorian times, which makes it a strong choice for school groups and curious families. Family activities and craft sessions run on some days, especially during school holidays. The former warehouses have been refurbished and all floors are reached by lift. A café opens onto the Regent's Canal towpath, so a visit can easily combine history with a walk beside the water and the neighbouring park.
