Facilities

The Fashion and Textile Museum occupies a distinctive building in the Bermondsey Village area of south London, designed by the Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta. Rather than a permanent collection, it runs a changing programme of temporary exhibitions on fashion, textiles and design, so what is on can differ from one visit to the next. The museum says it welcomes children and families, and encourages younger visitors to sit on the gallery floor and explore. A Create and Learn space offers fashion and textile activities with materials provided, and Museum Explorer Kits can be borrowed on arrival for primary-age children. Workshops for 12 to 16 year olds run in the school holidays, covering fashion drawing, fabric painting and printmaking. It suits families with older children and teenagers who enjoy design, and the museum sits a short walk from London Bridge station.
