Two Temple Place is a late Victorian neo-Gothic mansion built for William Waldorf Astor as his estate office, overlooking the Thames near the Temple. It is owned by a charity and opens on select days through the year to show exhibitions, which often mix contemporary art with the building's own carved stonework, stained glass and staircase. For families, the house is a good place to look for stories in the walls: there are interactive family trails for younger visitors on open days, family arts and crafts workshops that run alongside the exhibition programme in the first months of the year, and free family resources to download. The building has a lift to all floors and a sensory bag scheme for visitors who find busy spaces hard. Because opening is limited to particular days, check the what's on listings before planning a trip.
Family arts and crafts workshops run as part of the exhibition programme (January to April); family trails are available during open days.
