HMS Belfast is a Second World War Royal Navy light cruiser moored on the River Thames between Tower Bridge and London Bridge, run by the Imperial War Museum. Families explore nine decks by climbing ladders and passing through the captain's quarters, the mess decks, the sick bay, the gun turrets and the engine rooms well below the waterline. Children tend to enjoy the hands-on feel of a working warship, and the ship is busy enough that older children can spend half a day on board. There is a café on board and a shop with children's books and toys. Wheelchair access reaches the main deck but not the decks below, so families with buggies should check the route in advance. The ship sits within easy walking distance of Borough Market and the South Bank.
