What’s there
- Limited parking
On-street parking only, with three spaces directly in front of the museum, none designated for disabled drivers. A car park on Fink Hill has one disabled bay.
Only facilities we’ve confirmed are listed — anything missing here we simply haven’t checked, rather than know to be absent.
A small, volunteer-run local history museum on The Green at the heart of old Horsforth, opened in 1988 in a building dating from the late eighteenth century. Its ground-floor displays include a Victorian school room, which children often find the most engaging part of the visit, alongside wartime memorabilia, a set of model back-to-back houses furnished for around 1850, and information about the area's old inns and pubs. There are maps and geological material for the area as well as a large archive. The museum is compact and quick to explore, so it suits a short family outing or a wet afternoon rather than a full day. Admission is free, with donations welcomed. Check the museum's own site before travelling, as it has announced a refurbishment and a later reopening.
