Ilkley Manor House is a medieval house in the middle of Ilkley, built within the footprint of a Roman fort and now run as a museum, art gallery and events space by a charity. Families can look round the rooms, read the interpretation boards and take a self-guided tour of the house, with an information panel about the Roman fort. The building suits school-age children with an interest in history, and the venue runs curriculum-linked workshops for school groups, loan boxes of replica artefacts to handle, and free worksheets for home learning. Family-friendly events such as storytelling sessions are held at times through the year. The house opens at weekends, so it suits a relaxed family outing rather than a full day of activities.
