The Roman Villa is one of the attractions on The Newt estate in Somerset, a working farm and garden. It combines an archaeological museum built over the exposed foundations of a Romano-British villa with a reimagined villa beside it that visitors can walk through. Displays explain the excavation and show artefacts found on the site, and there are interactive elements aimed at all ages. Rooms in the reconstruction are staged with mosaics, frescoes and garden schemes, and some team members appear in period costume. A virtual reality experience gives a day-in-the-life view of Roman Somerset. Families can also eat Roman-inspired food in the villa courtyard on set days. The site runs a free schools programme for primary pupils. Visits are by timed booked slot, and the surrounding estate has uneven paths, so it suits families who are comfortable with a short walk outdoors.

Estate gardens have winter (27 Sep to 8 Mar, 9am to 4.30pm) and summer (9 Mar to 28 Sep, 9am to 6pm) hours; the villa's own slot times are as stated in hoursNote.
