Set in a Georgian building in the centre of Montacute village, this small museum is built around television and radio memorabilia. Visitors walk through rooms of vintage sets, novelty transistors, toys, books, games and annuals linked to programmes from the 1920s onwards. Children's programmes get their own displays, from early puppet shows through to more recent favourites, and there are life-size figures of well-known characters, a Tardis-themed area with Doctor Who figures, and a superhero and science fiction section. Older visitors often come for the memories, while younger ones tend to enjoy spotting characters they recognise. The museum is compact, so a visit can be done in an hour or so. A tearoom with a conservatory and garden is attached, and the village's National Trust house is a short walk away, so a visit fits well into a wider day out.
