What’s there
- Café on site
- Limited parking
- Dogs welcome
A small station car park, mostly reserved for blue badge and reduced-mobility visitors on operating days. The site says free parking is available opposite at Norton Hill School at weekends and holidays, and at the South Road town-centre car park; the site asks visitors not to park on Silver Street or Charlton Road.
Only facilities we’ve confirmed are listed — anything missing here we simply haven’t checked, rather than know to be absent.
A restored Victorian country station and a one-mile stretch of heritage railway, run by volunteers on the Mendip edge. Families can ride the trains when they run, look over the historic locomotives and carriages, and visit the railway museum housed in the old stables. A small wartime corner has an Anderson shelter and a pillbox that doubles as a tiny museum. The working signal box and restored greenhouse are worth a look from the platforms, and the gardens around the station give younger visitors space to wander. There is a station shop, a buffet carriage serving refreshments, and a second-hand railway emporium with a working model railway of the station as it was in the 1950s. Dogs are welcomed. Trains do not run every day, so check the timetable before setting out.
Train services and special events follow the calendar on the venue site; the site advises booking in advance for special event services.
