East Lambrook Manor Gardens is a privately owned cottage garden created by the plantswoman and writer Margery Fish around a fifteenth-century manor house. The garden is densely planted, with winding stone paths, clipped hedges and compartmented beds that give children plenty of places to wander and explore. It is known for its snowdrops in late winter, hellebores and hardy geraniums, so the seasons change what there is to see. There is a specialist cottage-garden plant nursery, a tea room and a gallery with exhibitions through the year. It suits families who enjoy being outdoors and want a gentle, low-key outing with space to walk and picnic. Paths are not fully step-free, so families with buggies or wheelchairs should check access before travelling.
