Facilities

Greylake is an RSPB nature reserve on the Somerset Levels, a flat wetland of reedbed, shallow pools and wet grassland beside the A361 between the villages of Othery and Greinton. It suits families who enjoy quiet walks and wildlife spotting rather than organised attractions. Trails lead out across the marsh towards a hide, where visitors can watch birds on the water and in the fields. In spring and summer, wading birds nest on the reserve, and in winter large flocks of ducks and waders gather when parts of the site flood. Children can look out for dragonflies, water voles and other wildlife. The open, level ground is manageable for young walkers and buggies, but the site is wild and can be wet, so sturdy footwear and a check on conditions before setting out are sensible.
