What’s there

  • Café on site
  • Limited parking
  • Dogs welcome

Free parking but limited spaces in the car park next to the gardens, with a 2.00m height restriction. Overflow suggested at the college car park on Rodway Hill (Animal Management Centre).

Only facilities we’ve confirmed are listed — anything missing here we simply haven’t checked, rather than know to be absent.

The Walled Gardens of Cannington sit within the grounds of a medieval priory and are run by a local college, so they combine a relaxed garden visit with a bit of learning. Children can wander the sub-tropical walk, the hot herbaceous border, the blue garden and the Victorian-style fernery, and there is a botanical glasshouse where arid, sub-tropical and tropical plants are grown. Two smaller walled gardens, the Bishop's and Southern Hemisphere gardens, offer quieter corners to sit and look around. The site is dog friendly outside the tea room. A tea room, plant nursery and gift shop can be visited without entering the gardens, which the venue describes as plenty to see for all the family. Families looking for an easy outdoor outing with plenty to explore on foot will find it suits a few hours of wandering.
