The Gauge Museum Blue Anchor sits on the down platform of the West Somerset Railway's Blue Anchor station, a short stop on the heritage line between Minehead and Bishops Lydeard. Visitors can read the social history of the line, often called the Seaside Line, and look at seaside holiday memorabilia in discovery boxes. Younger visitors can dress up, make up a puppet story with the hand puppets in the small puppet theatre, and try the interactive screen with games and quizzes about the railway. There is an original Edmundson ticket printing machine to see, and an array of railway lamps overhead. The museum is run by the West Somerset Railway Heritage Trust and is open on the railway's running days, so it suits a family waiting for a train or a rainy-afternoon stop near the coast. Entry is free, funded by donations from visitors.
