County Classics Motor Museum occupies the restored County Stores building on North Street in the centre of Taunton. The collection is built around cars and motorcycles from the 1950s to the 1990s, with some exhibits dating back to 1915, and each vehicle is captioned so visitors can read its story. Children are welcome, with a reduced child rate and free entry for under-fives, and the lively displays of rally cars, classic motorbikes and vintage memorabilia tend to appeal to older children and car-mad families. There is an on-site café and a gift shop selling automobilia. Volunteers are often on hand to talk about the vehicles. The museum is a registered charity that relies on donations and volunteers, and the building has a lift as well as a vehicle lift for the exhibits.
