A small museum on East Quay in Bridgwater, run by the South West Heritage Trust, that tells the story of brick and tile making in Somerset. The centrepiece is a traditional cone-shaped kiln, one of the few of its kind still standing in southern England, which visitors can walk into and look around. Guided tours cover the methods used to make bricks, roof tiles and decorative terracotta, and there are tile-making demonstrations. Holiday periods bring drop-in family activities for children aged three and over, such as mosaic making and handling real museum objects. The museum is compact, so it suits a short visit with younger children as well as school groups and older children interested in local industry and history.
