Radstock Museum occupies a former market hall in the centre of the town and tells the story of the Somerset Coalfield and the communities that worked it. Inside, a reconstructed coal mine shows how cramped and dangerous the seams were, and displays cover local geology, fossils from the Coal Measures, and the railways and canal that once carried coal out of the valley. Families with younger children tend to enjoy the two permanent trails, the Ammonite Trail and the Bob the Coal Miner Trail, which send children hunting for objects around the galleries. There is also a dressing-up box, smell boxes and fossils to look at. The museum is small, so a visit fits comfortably into an afternoon, and a tea room and shop are on site. Seasonal trails and events are advertised through the museum's newsletter.
Seasonal children's trails are advertised on the website, Facebook and the newsletter.
