Somerset Rural Life Museum

A heritage museum set on the former Abbey Farm, with a medieval barn, farmhouse galleries and a working-style farmyard. Families can wander through reconstructed rooms of village life, see old farm machinery and tools, and visit the farmhouse kitchen, which is laid as it would have been in the 1940s. The 14th-century Abbey Barn is the centrepiece and makes a striking space for a rainy-day visit. Outside, the farmyard and orchard have sculpture and family trails that explain the history of the buildings, and there is room to picnic among the apple trees. The Grain Store Café sits within the site and welcomes visitors even if they are not going into the museum. Children's activities, workshops and seasonal events run through the year, and the site suits children of all ages, from toddlers to teenagers.
