Ashton Court Railway is a miniature railway on the Ashton Court Estate, run by the Bristol Society of Model and Experimental Engineers since 1973. Families can ride scaled-down trains along two tracks, each roughly a third of a mile long, with a choice of steam and electric locomotives on the day. It runs only on selected public days through the spring, summer and autumn, so it suits a relaxed outing rather than a drop-in visit at any time. Younger children tend to enjoy the trains, while railway enthusiasts often come to see the model engineering on display. The estate around it offers space for a picnic and a walk before or after a ride. The railway is run by volunteers, so check the public running dates before you travel.
Open on selected public running days from March to October; closed for winter maintenance.
