Sheffield Manor Lodge is the surviving remains of a Tudor manor set in what was once a medieval deer park on the edge of the city. The most prominent building is the Turret House, which families can explore on guided tours and on a family trail, with dressing-up and a Tudor feast story. Outside, the grounds include ruins, an apothecary garden of Tudor plants, a lavender labyrinth and wildflower meadows that are good for spotting butterflies and bees in summer. There is a sandpit and outdoor games for younger children, and school-holiday craft sessions run from the Discovery Centre. Refreshments are available on site, with a cafe down the hill. The site suits families who enjoy history made hands-on, school groups and visitors who like to wander through green space.

Sunday guided tours and weekend events run through the year; the Tudor gardens are at their best June to September.
