Wentworth Woodhouse is one of the grandest Georgian stately homes in England, with the longest facade of any country house in the UK (618 feet). Run by the Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust, it opens its doors for self-guided free-flow visits through the principal State Rooms, plus guided tours, exhibitions and events throughout the year. Wander rooms imagining yourself at a grand ball, then head outdoors to explore 50 acres of historic gardens - wildflower meadows, ancient trees, shaded woodland copses and 18th-century follies including the Ionic Temple, the 15-foot Punch Bowl urn and the Camellia House. The Butler's Pantry Cafe and Gift Shop are on site, there are picnic spots in the gardens, and children aged 0-16 go free. Open Tuesday to Sunday all year round (excluding Christmas Day).
Seasonal opening: Summer (Mar-Sep) Tue-Sun 10:00-17:00; Winter (Oct-Feb) Tue-Sun 10:00-16:00. Closed Mondays except Bank Holiday Mondays. Open all year round excluding Christmas Day. May close temporarily for private events - check website before visiting.
