The Helicopter Museum is a volunteer-run collection of rotary-wing aircraft from around the world, displayed in an undercover hangar on the south-eastern corner of the former Weston-super-Mare airfield. Families can see helicopters from military and civilian service, including Queen's Flight machines, a record-breaking autogyro and a large Russian gunship, and many aircraft can be explored up close. Open Cockpit Days let children climb into the pilot's seat of selected helicopters while a guide explains the controls. A separate Weston Aviation Exhibition in a restored wartime pilots' block tells the story of local flying, and there is a children's play area beside it. A café and gift shop are on site, and free car parking is provided. Events run through the year, including seasonal family fun days, and the museum also welcomes school and youth group visits.
