Oakham Treasures is a privately owned museum of retail and farming history set on Oakham Farm near Portbury, on the western edge of Bristol. The collection is built around memorabilia from old shops and everyday household life, alongside a large display of vintage tractors and farm machinery, so there is plenty to look at for children and the adults with them. The displays are indoors and climate controlled, which makes the museum a practical choice on a wet or cold day. Families can make a half-day visit, stop for refreshments at the on-site cafe and park for free beside the building. Under-sixes are admitted free, and the museum suits mixed-age groups, including grandparents who may recognise the packaged goods and advertising on show. Groups of twenty or more are asked to book ahead. Younger children may need a steady hand around the older exhibits.
