Only facilities we’ve confirmed are listed — anything missing here we simply haven’t checked, rather than know to be absent.

This volunteer-run local history museum sits in a late Georgian building on the market square in Crewkerne, South Somerset. Visitors move through several galleries that trace how the district's people worked, travelled and got by over the centuries, with the town's early history as a Saxon mint, its coaching-era role and its textile trade all covered. Reviewers describe many of the displays as hands-on and tactile, and staff are often praised as friendly, which helps younger visitors stay engaged. A changing programme of exhibitions and community events runs through the season, and there is a small courtyard outside. Because the building is compact, a visit typically takes an hour or so, and it makes a sensible wet-afternoon stop alongside a stroll around the historic centre.

Main museum open April to October; closed for winter apart from coffee mornings and talks.
