Experience Barnsley Museum and Discovery Centre

Experience Barnsley is a free community museum on the ground floor of Barnsley Town Hall, telling the story of the town and its surrounding villages through objects, photographs and memories donated by local people. The galleries cover archaeology, local industry, social history and the town's sporting and community life, with interactive displays and films that suit younger children as well as adults. A Discovery Centre alongside holds local archives, documents and film and sound material, so families can explore their own roots. Regular activities, school-holiday sessions and themed exhibitions run through the year, and the museum has won a national family-friendly museum award.
