Site Gallery is a contemporary art space in the Cultural Industries Quarter of Sheffield city centre. Its exhibitions focus on moving image, new media and performance, so the visit suits older children and teenagers who enjoy film, sound, interactive work and things that move. The ground floor gallery is a single level, and the building has a community-run café and a shop. Families can take part in the gallery's family workshops, which have included kite-making, creative writing, Game Boy camera photography and field recording, and which invite people of all ages to take part together. Children's and adults' ear defenders are kept at reception, and there is a relaxed viewing hour on Thursday mornings with quieter sound and brighter light. Admission and workshop details change through the year, so check the gallery's what's-on page before planning a visit.
