Cusworth Hall sits in acres of historic parkland on the edge of Doncaster, and families can split a visit between the house and the grounds. Inside, the museum covers the daily lives of local people from the 18th century to the present day, with rooms such as the Great Kitchen, the still room and laundry, and a chapel with painted ceilings to look up at. The park is open every day of the year, with lakes, plantations and grassy walks where children can run about, and there is a tea room and shop on site for a break. Admission to the museum is free, with donations welcome. Educational study areas are available for school parties, and group visits can be arranged. Dogs on leads are allowed in the park, and the car park charges by the hour, so it suits a relaxed half-day or longer outing with children of most ages.
