Cawthorne Victoria Jubilee Museum is a small village museum in a Victorian building that was opened in 1889 to mark a royal jubilee. The displays are a deliberately jumbled collection of bygones, natural history specimens, Victorian household items, farming and blacksmith tools and unusual curiosities gathered over several generations, so there is usually something new to spot on each visit. It suits families who enjoy quirky, old-fashioned museums and want to talk about how people lived in the past. The collection is traditional rather than hands-on, so it works best for curious older children and adults. Entry is free and donations are welcomed, and the museum is run by volunteers from the village.
Open Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays from Palm Sunday to the end of October.
