Shepherd Wheel Workshop is a small industrial heritage site in Whiteley Woods, a short walk from Endcliffe Park in the Porter Valley. The building is a Grade II listed workshop where Sheffield's cutlery was ground using water power, and it is one of the earliest complete examples of its kind. Visitors can watch the large overshot waterwheel turning, look at the grinding hulls and the tools of the trade, and hear stories about the grinders who worked there. Children tend to enjoy the sight and sound of the wheel and the stroll along the dam that feeds it. The site is compact, so a visit suits an unhurried hour or two, and it pairs well with a walk through the surrounding woodland and park. Dogs on leads are welcome, and outdoor seating is available in the courtyard and the park.

Weekends only; the waterwheel is a working display.
