The Royal Pavilion is Brighton's iconic seaside palace, built for King George IV and now run by the Royal Pavilion & Museums Trust. Step inside to explore the opulent Banqueting Room, the Music Room with its famous dragons, the Great Kitchen, the restored Saloon and the Royal Bedrooms, or take a guided tour of the building, domes and basement tunnels. The surrounding Royal Pavilion Garden is free and open to everyone — a peaceful green space in the heart of the city that has been public since 1850, with wide tarmac paths, lawns and benches. Families are well catered for: the Baby Pavilion Guide (the first of its kind in the UK, developed with researchers from the Sussex Baby Lab) helps parents explore with babies, child tickets cover ages 5-18, family passes give one child ticket free with at least one adult and two children, and the ground floor is buggy friendly with a buggy park and baby changing facilities. Pavilion opening hours vary by season (April-September 9.30am-5.45pm, October-March 10am-5.15pm).
