Britain's only all-steam heritage railway, running vintage trains 11 miles through the Sussex countryside between Sheffield Park, Horsted Keynes and East Grinstead. Kids travel for just £1 on weekends and public holidays when accompanied by a fare-paying adult. Start at Sheffield Park Station (TN22 3QL), which has free parking, locomotive sheds, the Bluebell Railway Museum housing engines from the 1870s to the 1950s, cafés, shops and picnic areas. Family events, dining trains and seasonal galas run throughout the year. Train running days vary by dated timetable, so check the website before you visit.

Running days vary seasonally - check the online timetable for your visit date. Kids for a Quid: children aged 3-15 travel for £1 every weekend and public holiday (excluding special events).
