Bexhill Museum is a community museum run by the Bexhill Museum Association, offering families a rich slice of local history in the heart of Bexhill-on-Sea, just north of the seafront by Egerton Park. The museum is open Tuesday to Sunday, 11am to 4pm (closed Mondays), and admission is inexpensive: adults £4, children aged 5-16 £2, under-5s free, and concessions £3.
What you will find inside: galleries covering local history and archaeology, a costume and fashion collection, technology and Bexhill's motoring heritage, a Bexhill in WWII gallery, and model railway displays. There are hands-on 'handling objects' for children, an Access Centre for research and local history, and a programme of family-friendly events and exhibitions throughout the year. A fully equipped Education Room supports school and student visits.
The museum is fully accessible: the front entrance has a ramp, there is a lift between the two floor levels, accessible toilets and baby changing facilities on the lower level, a hearing loop, and assistance dogs are welcome. Metered parking is available by the museum with three disabled bays, and more spaces can be found on the seafront. Bexhill Museum is a great rainy-day outing for families - small, friendly, affordable and packed with local stories.
