The Scottish Fisheries Museum in Anstruther, Fife, brings Scotland fishing history to life. Set in historic harbour-front buildings including two Category A listed buildings (the 16th-century Abbot lodging and an 18th-century merchant house), the museum is home to fascinating artifacts, beautifully preserved boats, and stories of life at sea. Highlights include The Reaper, a 1903 sailing herring drifter open in high season, and the Historic Boatyard. The museum features interactive exhibits, a gift shop with nautical-themed gifts, and Waves Cafe serving locally sourced food. The collection comprises over 66,000 items including model boats, fishing gear, a significant photographic archive, and paintings. The museum also incorporates a small private chapel commemorating Scots who perished at sea while fishing.
