Stretching from Nairn to Findhorn Bay, Culbin Forest is a vast coastal forest managed by Forestry and Land Scotland. It features an extensive network of gravel tracks ideal for walking, cycling and family days out. The Hill 99 Trail at Wellhill car park is the perfect introduction, winding through sandy pinewoods and mossy glades to a spectacular wooden viewpoint tower offering 360-degree views over the treetops to the Moray Firth coast. For a shorter, gentler option, the Gravel Pit Ponds Trail offers well-surfaced paths suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs. The shoreline along the forest's edge is part of an RSPB reserve, a vital feeding ground for wading birds, and you may spot ospreys and seals at Findhorn Bay. Other highlights include Dragonfly Pond, Buckie Loch, and the fascinating buried trees of Lady Culbin's dunes.
