Findhorn Beach & Dunes

Findhorn Beach is a long, uninterrupted stretch of fine white sandy beach close to the village of Findhorn on the Moray coast. Backed by impressive sand dunes and adjacent to the Findhorn Bay Local Nature Reserve, this beach offers miles of golden sands perfect for family walks, building sandcastles, birdwatching, and wildlife spotting. The beach is part of the sweeping Burghead Bay and the Moray Coast Trail follows the shoreline as it curves round to Burghead. In July 2023, Findhorn Beach was voted Scotland's best beach by The Times and Sunday Times. The dunes area is a rich habitat for birds and wildlife, with seals often spotted near the estuary mouth. Facilities include free parking at East Beach, paid parking at West Beach (£1/day), public toilets, beach huts, and stepless ramps providing wheelchair access. The Findhorn Bay Local Nature Reserve (adjacent to the beach) and Culbin Forest offer further exploration opportunities. Beach huts line the shore and some are available for daily hire. The surrounding area is popular for walking, birdwatching, cycling, and water sports including windsurfing and kayaking.
