The Oriental Museum, formerly the Gulbenkian Museum of Oriental Art and Archaeology, is a museum of Durham University housing a collection of more than 23,500 Chinese, Egyptian, Korean, Indian, Japanese and other Asian artefacts. The museum's Chinese and Ancient Egyptian collections are designated by Arts Council England as being of national and international importance.\n\nThe museum offers a range of family-friendly activities including Little Dragons sessions, craft activities, handling sessions, and trails. Highlights include the Egyptian mummy known as 'The Lady' (with the oldest-known prosthetic limb), exquisite Chinese ceramics and jades, moon rock display, and the South Asian and Himalayan galleries. The museum runs regular family events, holiday activities, and school programmes.
