Set over three floors in a restored Town Hall, the museum showcases over 2,000 years of St Albans heritage alongside contemporary art. The restored Georgian Assembly Room, with ornate chandeliers and gold leaf, hosts cutting-edge art installations. You can explore the octagonal Courtroom and subterranean Cells where defendants were once held, now fully restored and open to visitors. Glazed links on the first floor offer rooftop views, and a new basement gallery houses flagship exhibitions. There's a learning studio, gift shop and Courtroom Café serving coffee, pastries and lunch.
