Lukesland is a family-run woodland garden of about 24 acres in a steep valley on the southern edge of Dartmoor. Paths wind past ponds, streams and small waterfalls, and the planting of camellias, azaleas, rhododendrons and rare trees gives the garden its strongest colour in spring and autumn. For a family visit the appeal is the space to wander and explore outdoors, with a children's trail through the grounds and a tea room serving homemade soup and cakes. Dogs are welcome on a lead. The garden suits families who want a relaxed outing in fresh air, with plenty of room for children to run about safely away from roads. Because it opens only on set days in the season, families should check the calendar before setting out.
Open on set days only: spring season (mid-March to early June, Sundays, Wednesdays and bank holidays per earlier published pattern) and autumn season (Sundays and Wednesdays, October to mid-November). Closed for winter.
