It's a designated National Landscape and one of England's most popular outdoor destinations. Families can enjoy walking and hiking trails for all abilities, cycling and mountain biking, pony spotting (Dartmoor's iconic wild ponies and highland cattle), wild swimming, kayaking, climbing, and fishing. Explore Bronze Age archaeological sites, ancient stone rows, and the legendary prison at Princetown. The park's dark skies are ideal for stargazing. Three award-winning Visitor Centres at Princetown, Postbridge, and Haytor offer exhibitions, activities for children, maps, and local gifts. Free entry — the park is open to everyone, all year round.
