The Garden House

The Garden House is a series of linked gardens set in a sheltered valley on the western fringes of Dartmoor, a short drive north of Plymouth. Visitors wander winding paths past a walled garden with herbaceous borders, a wildflower meadow, a cottage garden, a quarry garden and an arboretum. It is most famous for its snowdrop displays early in the year and its wisterias, azaleas and rhododendrons in early summer, followed by striking maple colour in the Acer Glade in autumn. Families with younger children can enjoy the wide paths, space to run about on the lawns and the chance to spot plants and wildlife at their own pace. There is a café on site, a plant centre and a gift shop, and dogs on short leads are welcome on the paths. The garden is run by a charity, so admission is by ticket and children under five go free.
