We haven’t checked this venue’s facilities yet. Give them a ring if something specific matters for your visit.
The Heritage Centre occupies a building that was originally a church, and has housed a folk museum and arts and crafts centre since the late 1970s. Its collection is a mix of local history and general curiosities, including old photographs, models, paintings, vintage radios and telephones, clogs, dolls houses, retro toys, clocks and cinema projectors. Displays trace the island's development from farmland to a modern town, with items such as an old school desk and a rainwater container from the 1920s. Visitors are encouraged to look through the collection and sign the visitor book. Families with children who enjoy old-fashioned objects and a browse around a quirky, hands-on local collection will find it worth a visit. The centre also hosts needlework and art groups and holds special exhibitions and events through the year. It is a compact venue, so it suits a short visit rather than a full day out.
