A small heritage museum set in what was once part of the hospital on the wartime RAF Ridgewell airfield in North Essex. The collection covers the 90 Squadron RAF and the American 381st Bomb Group, with uniforms, personal effects, photographs and memorabilia displayed alongside stories of the men who served there. Because the museum is compact, a visit suits an afternoon with older children who enjoy history, aircraft and the human stories behind a wartime base. Admission and parking are free, and an on-site café called the Stage Door Canteen serves refreshments. The museum opens only on certain Sundays through the summer and autumn, so families should check the calendar before setting out. It is best suited to visitors with an interest in the Second World War.
