A small museum housed in a preserved 1960s passenger carriage alongside the platform at the former Rayne Station, on the traffic-free Flitch Way path between Braintree and Bishop's Stortford. Inside, families can look at railway artefacts and photographs, read about the local branch line and the Flitch Way itself, and watch a working model railway that recreates Rayne station and the surrounding area as it would have looked in the 1940s. Children tend to enjoy the model trains and the chance to sit in a real carriage. It pairs well with a walk or cycle along the Flitch Way, and a nearby booking hall café serves refreshments. Entry is free, with donations welcome to help with upkeep. Because the museum is run by volunteers, it does not open every day, so it is worth checking before setting out.
