The Peter Edwards Museum & Library, also known as the Essex Cricket Museum, is the official museum of Essex County Cricket Club. It sits beside the club shop at the Ambassador Cruise Line Ground in Chelmsford and holds photographs, books, playing equipment, clothing and other memorabilia connected with the club and its players since it was founded in 1876. A display of portraits honours more than 50 leading players, and new interpretation boards cover the club's history. It suits older children with an interest in cricket or local history who are already visiting a match, and the visit is quick and free. Opening follows the cricket calendar: the museum is open on match days, and at other times by appointment, so families should plan around fixtures.
