Redwings Ada Cole Rescue Centre

Redwings Ada Cole is a visitor centre run by the Redwings Horse Sanctuary charity, with paddocks where families can walk among rescued horses, ponies, donkeys and mules, numbering almost seventy residents. Visitors can meet individual animals and read about the sanctuary's work, and paddock walks run through the day. Entry is free, so it suits a relaxed visit with younger children as well as older ones who like animals. There is a cafe serving hot drinks, snacks and a children's menu, a picnic area for packed lunches, and a gift shop. Dogs on leads are welcome. The centre hosts family events through the year, including birthday celebrations for adoption-scheme animals and seasonal egg and pumpkin hunts, and group and school visits can be arranged by email. The centre also holds an archive of early residents' ledgers from the original stables, founded in 1932 in memory of Ada Cole, some of whose first residents were war horses.
